Traditional Japanese boats will begin operating in the inner moat of Himeji Castle.
The traditional Japanese boats used in this project were recreated through a cultural affairs agency-subsidized initiative aimed at preserving the nearly lost craft of wooden Japanese boatbuilding and training successors. Named “Harima” and “Shirasagi,” these two vessels gracefully navigate the moat, inviting your understanding and cooperation in cultural heritage preservation. For a moment, recall the elegant atmosphere of days gone by when the castle lord enjoyed boating, and savor the castle’s presence from the vantage point of the boat.
